Nice restaurant with a great hostess who is really kind and speaks great English. She also has a lot of tips&tricks for the Kumano Kodo trail as she's a guide. Food is really nice. Recommend going here!

We felt very lucky to find this place! The food was very good and for a really good price. Most of all, the host was extremely helpful and perfectly fluent in English. She is a local guide for the Kumano Kodo and gave us lots of valuable advice. It's a very recommendable place to go!

The restaurant is very comfortable. The owner is very kind and knows English perfectly. The kitchen is superb! The Sushi is very fresh, the perfect Tenpura, the delicious spaghetti. Also excellent home-made ice cream and prune wine (which you wouldn't stop to taste). The really affordable prices. Recommended!

We had a really nice dinner here, one of the best katsu-dons we've had in Japan and very reasonably priceded. Our host spoke perfect English and gave us a stamp book and words of wisdom for our Kumano Kodo walk the next day.

Amazing Restaurant, a must visit when you are in the area. We were welcomed so friendly by the wife of the owner. She speaks very well english and there is an english menu as well. We had Katsudon with udon noodles and a hotpot. It tasted extremly good. After dinner we tried the homemade plumwine which was delicious while Kennise (wife of the owner) explaned us some details about the Kumano Kodo. It was an amazing evening. Strongly recommended.

I jumped into the shop around 14 o'clock and got lunch. It was a strange time, and I could not do sushi. However, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very calm. It was a bit disappointing that the white rice was cold and not fresh.

This was the most delicious meal I have had in Japan. The menu has a lot of variety and we enjoyed three snacks (miso eggplant, agedashi tofu, and octopus) before our set meals (tempura for me and pork and ginger for my husband). If you don't read or speak Japanese well the English menus are excellent and the friendly owner/chef speaks English. The prices are very affordable too.

A hidden gem. It was one of the best meals we had on our trip. The food was delicious, the portions were large, the price was fair and the staff was very friendly. If you find yourself in Tanabe, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

First of all their service is so lovely and the owner speaks perfect English. But the menu is traditional and delicious. I had just a regular Oyakodon and it was one of the best I've ever had. My partner has a soba/tempura set and it came with some amazing little flourishes. So delicious. We were so happy to find this one :)

Food was delicious- traditional Japanese cuisine! The price was very reasonable too. The wife of the owner speaks excellent English and is the local licensed guide for Koyasan and Kumano who gave valuable advice to us. Friendly and nice. We enjoyed our lunch so much and will definitely visit again!

It was the first meal I had in Japan for the first time. My master gave me so kindness and I was so thankful for recommending a place to see around. It was delicious, of course.

Very nice and cozy local restaurant. The owner is extremely kind and speaks fluent English, also an english menu is available. When I told her of my fish/seafood allergy she helped me in deciding for a dish where no fish ingredients are involved. Prices are good and the food was very delicious. Most things on the menu are fish/seafood though, but also some vegetarian things available (e. g. vegetarian tempura). Absolutely recommend this place especially for non-japanese people.

Kennis is a delightful host and chef, her English is fantastic and will alter dishes to suit dietary requirements. She will also teacher you some Japanese and local dialect for the use on the Kumasi Kodo. If you’re lucky try her famous home made ice cream- we went back for a second sitting to this lovely place. You won’t be disappointed with the smells, tastes and sounds of this restaurant. Thank you Kennis!

We had pork ginger grilled set meal 800 yen (excluding tax). It is very delicious and the other okas are great. I will go to eat again.

Simple, delicious and honest food at bargain prices. The big star of this establishment however are the owners. The lady of the house speaks fluent english and is a guide on the kumano kodo and very passionate about Tanabe. If you need some information or just want to chat after weeks of baby-japanese and sign-language, this is the place!

Authentic, petit i barat restaurant to Tanabe. It's worth trying-ho!
